New York Fashion Week Day Seven

The sweet bird of youth pulsates through Chloë Sevigny’s collection for cool and creative New York retailer Opening Ceremony.

But the sweetest thing of all was that the designer, at the age of 39, chose to present her eternally youthful spirit through the voices, music and poetry of young girls whom she gathered together from downtown.

The 22 players, aged 11 through to the ancient age of 24, sang, played instruments or read their own poetry.

After the presentation for their house label the day before, done in the form of a theatrical play, Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have become fashion-production heroes.

The Chloë Sevigny collection was simple, with enough originality to make sporty pieces different – never tacky and subtly cute.
